Where this started and what it became

The site began in 2016 out of a specific frustration: most interview advice available online was either too generic to be useful or too narrowly focused on a single industry to transfer anywhere else. After going through several hiring processes in quick succession — some successful, some not — it became clear that the gap was not in tips or tricks but in structured thinking about what interviews actually test and why.

The early version of xudaniu was a private set of notes. It turned into a public site when a few colleagues asked to read them. The format has changed considerably since then, but the core intent has not: to write about interview preparation in a way that is specific enough to be actionable and honest enough to be trusted.

Every piece published here reflects direct experience — either from preparing for interviews, conducting them, or both. Nothing is sourced from secondhand summaries or aggregated from forums. The perspective is singular and consistent, which makes it easier to disagree with but also easier to apply.

What sets this apart from similar resources

Format-specific depth

Most interview resources treat all interviews as interchangeable. This site does not. A case interview at a consultancy, a behavioural round at a tech company, and a panel interview at a public institution each follow different logic. The content here addresses those differences directly, with separate analysis for each format rather than generic advice dressed up as specific.

Interviewer-side perspective

Having conducted interviews changes how you read advice about them. Several pieces on this site are written from the perspective of what an interviewer is actually tracking — not just what the job description says matters. That angle is difficult to replicate from candidate experience alone and it changes the practical conclusions considerably.

No filler content

This site does not publish to a schedule or to hit a word count. Each piece is written because there is something specific to say that has not been said clearly elsewhere. The result is a smaller body of work than most comparable sites, but one where each piece carries its own weight. Nothing here exists to improve search rankings or pad out a category page.

Honest about limitations

Interview preparation is not a formula. Sector, seniority level, company culture and individual interviewers all introduce variables that no guide can fully account for. The content here acknowledges those limits rather than papering over them with confidence. Where advice is context-dependent, that context is stated explicitly rather than assumed to be universal.
